Sloppy with Finances

Its really BAD LIKE BAD! EEK!

I know, get my Finances in order and keep track of my spending...I am so BAD EEK!

I think I have a problem when I go Grocery Shopping, these last few weeks I have going over my Budget and buying things I don't need. I don't know why I do that. Am I worried I am going to run out of Food or what? Confused

Anyway, after everything that goes through that is supposed to go through I am going to get back on track. REALLY WORRIED about going in the RED.

i'm really bad about groceries, too; it takes a lot of effort for me to stick to the budget.

what helped me is going through the fridge/freezer/pantry to make a list of everything i have. there's more there than you'd think! i use that as a jumping off point on what i'm going to cook, and usually i find i have everything i need. then i make a list of 1) what other ingredients i need 2) things i buy every week (milk, cereal, OJ) 3) things that are on sale that i can stock up on without going over budget (canned beans and tomatoes are my biggies). if there's more on sale than i can afford to buy with grocery budget, i have to take it out of my own allowance (which i'm rarely willing to do!), and the house has to pay me back out of the next week's grocery money.

Jacquelyn, I've never done it but I've heard some people take groceries back to the store. Is there any possibility of you doing that?

I worked in a grocery store and people did bring things back. Don't worry, no one will think badly of you. Make a list and stick to it. Reward your self with a predetermined thing when you do so you won't feel deprived. :-) ((hugs))

make a list and stick it. I find that if I print out a calendar and indicate what's for dinner, breakfast and some times sanck for the month; when I go grocery shoping I but what's on the calendar...I save a ton of money when I do this

Grocery stores really know human nature, so don't go when you are hungry, make sure you have a list, know your prices, and don't do a lot of wandering and window shopping. Buy it and beat it. Smile

Sometimes shopping with a friend can be helpful because there is a mutual support system. The list is always a great way of doing it!

Don't let it get you down. Just keep at it and you will be able to stick to the list. Establishing a habit takes time. You can do it!Smile

The great thing about this place is that you DON'T have to be good at everything finance-related. There are plenty of very knowledgeable and helpful people, who has the time and patience to walk you through it step-by-step.

Now, if I can just find someone to give me a sponge bath every night, then I'd be all set. Wink
